We are excited about the interest in 7th grade volleyball this season. Based on current sign-ups, we anticipate having more students interested than available roster spots.
As a reminder, all Dillon Middle School athletic programs are limited to 24 participants due to transportation capacity, available uniforms, and student safety and supervision considerations. Because of the high level of interest in volleyball this year, we expect that cuts will be necessary following an evaluation period.
Coaches will use a fair and consistent process to evaluate athletes based on skill development, effort, coachability, teamwork, and readiness for competition.
The first day of volleyball practice is Monday, August 31, at 3:45 p.m.

To participate, students must:

Details: Rehearsal will last approximately one hour. Students do not need to dress up. Please note that rehearsal is mandatory. Any student who does not attend rehearsal will not be allowed to participate in the promotion ceremony that evening. Students will receive their 4th quarter report card at this rehearsal as well as any extra money that is owed to them from the district.

-Attire should not draw undue attention to themselves or away from others. No lei necklaces or hats are permitted during the ceremony.
-This is not a formal prom; girls are not expected and are discouraged from purchasing or wearing prom-style dresses
-A dress is not required—nice pants outfits are perfectly acceptable
-Please do not feel pressured to spend money on clothing that will only be worn once
-Boys should wear slacks and a collared shirt (ties are optional)
-Students who wear t-shirts and/or jeans will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony

Good afternoon, this is Randy Shipman, Superintendent of Dillon Elementary School District #10 with an important message.
This afternoon at approximately 2:00 p.m., Dillon Elementary experienced a power outage that resulted in our phone system and messaging services becoming unavailable. Unfortunately, this prevented us from communicating directly with families during the situation.
Following the outage, which happened to be an electrical shortage in our kitchen, staff conducted a search throughout our buildings. Based on the circumstances, it was determined that all students and staff needed to evacuate the buildings as a precautionary safety measure. While we would typically notify parents immediately, our primary focus at that time was ensuring the safety and well-being of all students and staff.
With the assistance of the Dillon Police Department, Beaverhead County Sheriff's Office, Dillon Volunteer Fire Department, and Montana Highway Patrol, our buildings were safely cleared and students were dismissed without incident.
We understand situations like this can be concerning and apologize for any inconvenience or frustration caused by the lack of communication during the event. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support of Dillon Elementary Schools. If you have any questions please contact me directly.

DMS 7th and 8th Grade Parents/Guardians, the track meet in Hamilton scheduled for Friday, April 24th has been canceled. We will have practice on Friday, April 24th until 4:30 if weather permits. Please help spread the word!
DMS music parents/guardians, I wanted to share an important upcoming date to help plan ahead, as we know spring calendars can fill up quickly. On Thursday, May 14th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade choirs will have a concert at 6:00 pm in the Parkview Gym. There will then be a 7th and 8th grade band concert in the DMS gym that same night (May 14th) at 7:30 pm. 6th grade band will not have a spring concert this year.

Hey DMS wrestling parents/guardians, just a couple of quick updates as we head into the final days of the season. First, regular practice tomorrow, 3/12/26 until 5:30 pm. Second, there is NO PRACTICE on Friday, 3/13/26 as we will be setting up the BW Lodge for Saturday's home tournament. Third, if you are willing and able to help set up the BW Lodge, we will start setting up at 4:00 pm on Friday, 3/13/26. Finally, please have wrestlers to the BW Lodge by 8:45 am on Saturday, 3/14/26 to warm up as wrestling begins at 10:00 am.
The bus leave time for DMS 7th and 8th grade wrestling to Anaconda today, 3/10/26, has been adjusted to 1:00 pm. As a reminder, 6th grade wrestlers have regular practice after school.

Third, the county spelling bee is at the 4-H building at the Beaverhead County Fairgrounds at 1:00 pm on 2/10/26 if your child was selected as a school finalist. Fourth, today's, 2/9/26, girls basketball games in Anaconda will be played at Fred Moodry (7th A @ 4:00 pm, 8th A @ 5:00 pm). Tomorrow, 2/10/26, our 7th and 8th grade A and B teams play at Butte East Middle School (7th/8th B @ 4:00 pm), 7th/8th A @ 5:00 pm).
